Come early to explore the exhibit hall and enjoy breakfast. We have two scheduled times to explore the Exhibit Hall: 8-9am and 10:15-11:15am., and you can drop by at lunch or during the day.

Visit the Expo Hall Lounge to see why Mini Cooper, Netflix, Beats, Squarespace, Target, Ford, American Girl, Starbucks, Coca Cola, Michael Kors and STA Travel employ these super creative kids to tell their stories.

Conduct Yourself! The Makey Makey Creative Explosion

Create a keyboard out of a laptop and some bananas? Say what??? Explore the world of Makey Makey with Mira Costa’s Advanced Placement Computer Science classes where you can play games and make music in innovative and nonconforming ways! Using simple circuits and everyday objects, our coders have programmed some serious fun!

Take time out to stretch and practice mindfulness at our BCHD Wellness Zone. You can also learn about BCHD’s many programs for the community and pick up TEDxManhattanBeach Speaker Dr. Myles Spar’s “Check In” sheet — a personalized wellness plan.

TEDx Paints: Community and Kindness Brings Us Together

Come paint a “friendship bracelet” on planks of wood and help create a place for community and kindness. After TEDx, we will use the wood to build a Pergola for the quad at the Manhattan Beach Middle School.

Stop by our soil center run by students from the Environmental Charter School’s Green Ambassadors program to learn about the incredible power of using the soil beneath our feet as our greatest tool for combating climate change and improving the nutrition of the food we grow.


Cuban New Media: ESMoA

El Segundo Museum of Art (ESMoA), the South Bay’s own art laboratory, has collaborated with Cuban art curators frency and Ley MA, to present Experience 31: HOPE. Produced in partnership with Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, the show features new media art from Cuba, as well as pioneering work from 1960’s and 1990’s Cuba. Experience four provocative examples of the Cuba new media art scene at TEDxMB, and make a “HOPE” art project curated by ESMoA.


Let’s Roll! Ozobots

Program these pint-sized robots to race around a track that you design and see who’s first to the finish line! Or just program your Ozobot to take a meandering stroll; either way, you’ll have so much fun you’ll want to create more than one!

RISE Up!: RISE High School

Witness the rise of RISE High School, an innovative new high school that provides education and wrap-around services to underserved homeless and foster teens. Through video, you’ll view the genesis of RISE through construction to the opening of the campus this past September. Meet some of the kids that make this school so special and learn about Children’s Law Center, School on Wheels and other resources in Los Angeles county that are helping this growing number of children.

Immerse yourself in our sound garden lounge, where you can relax to David Romero’s Sound Bath, a Vibro-Acoustic experience that relaxes both the mind and body. Gongs, Tibetan Bowls, Crystal Bowls, Native American Flutes, Tuning Forks, Didgeridoo’s, and a host of other instruments are played to help create a serene, peaceful, and relaxing environment. Space Fabric: 3D Printing from JPL

The latest 3D printing development from JPL comes to TEDxMB! Metallic “space fabrics” are 3D printed metal fabrics, which are strong, foldable, reflective, and highly heat resistant. The innovative 3D printed space fabrics could be used to create durable astronaut spacesuits, shield spacecraft from meteorites and insulate them on icy moons and planets, and to capture and pick up objects from a planet’s surface. Be one of the first people to see this revolutionary space fabric in our Exhibit Hall!

Yuri’s Night

Far Out! Yuri’s Night

Yuri’s Night is a global celebration of humanity’s past, present, and future in space. Yuri’s Night parties and events are held on every continent and most countries of the world every April in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin becoming the first human to venture into space on April 12, 1961, and the inaugural launch of the first Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981. Yuri’s Night events combine space-themed partying with education and outreach to develop the next generation of explorers. Come stop by our own Yuri’s Night exhibit to see real meteorites and videos, and get information about Yuri’s Night 2018!

For over 70 years, families and friends have enjoyed hours of fun with Wham-O’s Hula Hoops®, HackySacks®, Frisbees® and Slip ‘N Slides®, and now’s your chance to get in on the fun during lunch at TEDxMB.

Video Art: Noise Aquarium

Artist Victoria Vesna of UCLA Art Sci Center, in collaboration with Dr. Alfred Vendl and Martina Fröschl, of the Scientific Visualization department at the Academy of Applied Arts, Vienna, bring Noise Aquarium to TEDxMB. Noise Aquarium draws our guests’ attention to unnatural noise in the oceans on plankton, one of the primary building blocks of the marine food chain and a crucial component of the Earth’s ecosystem. By showing disturbance through noise pressure waves, this intriguing video of accurate 3D-models is a vital resource for scientific and artistic research. Immerse yourself in our Noise Aquarium video lounge!
