Build It Workspace Creator
Mark Lengsfeld founded Build It Workspace in 2014 as a place for innovators to test their ideas and turn them into products. As an open workspace and learning center, Mark developed programs for elementary students that have been introduced in 4 school districts around Southern California. These programs engage students to explore the fundamentals of design using technology and hands-on creativity, building an early foundation for innovation in children.
Early in 2015, Mark and his staff took on a project to build a 3D printed hand for a local first-grader named Faith. Under Mark’s leadership and in collaboration with e-NABLE, Airwolf 3D, and CSU Dominguez Hills Orthotics and Prosthetics Program, the project was featured in Entrepreneur.com, NBC Nightly News, KTLA, and many international media outlets. As the impact of 3D printing continues to grow in many industries, the results are much faster and cheaper than prior technology—and it’s just really cool.
Mark’s inspiration began at a young age as he lived and travelled in Europe exploring manufacturing in factories as well as discovering the artistic masters in museums. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Irvine, and his Master of Business Administration from USC.
Mark’s Favorite TED Talk is Bran Ferran: To create for the ages let's combine art and engineering
