About Linda Reinstein
Linda Reinstein became an activist when her husband, Alan, was diagnosed with asbestos-related mesothelioma in 2003. In 2004, she co-founded the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), where she continues to serve as Executive Director. The mission of ADAO is to be the voice of the victims, uniting individuals and families worldwide who have been affected by asbestos-related diseases.
Reinstein wrote and produced the slideshow “Asbestos Kills,” along with numerous educational materials including “Asbestos: The Dust, Disease, and Death.” In addition, she compiled “Reflections,” an internationally-distributed, online asbestos disease resource which includes articles from renowned global experts. These materials, along with an extensive library of educational videos and other resources, can be found on the ADAO website: www.adao.us.
Committed to implementing a worldwide asbestos ban, Reinstein serves as a frequent Congressional witness. She is a highly sought-after speaker, and has presented in Japan, Thailand, Holland, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and before the British House of Commons, as well as at conferences and meetings nationwide.
Recognized as an expert with more than 25 years of nonprofit experience in ‘grassroots/grasstops’ advocacy, Reinstein specializes leveraging social networks and new media. Hardwired for advocacy, she continues to work domestically and internationally to help increase public awareness about asbestos, developing campaigns to prevent asbestos exposure and to increase federal research funding for new treatments and a cure.
