Americans are facing two national epidemics — pain and opioid use. Dr. Stephanie L. Taylor shares the power of complementary and integrative health therapies, such as acupuncture, meditation and yoga, to help people manage pain and pain-related conditions such as anxiety, depression and fatigue without pills. As a medical sociologist and implementation scientist, she has conducted research to improve health and health care for vulnerable populations for over 20 years.
Dr. Taylor is the Director of the national VA Complementary and Integrative Health Evaluation Center, Associate Director of Health Services Research at the Los Angeles Veterans Administration, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the UCLA Department of Health Policy and Management. She has received federal research funding, published 50+ scholarly manuscripts, delivered numerous lectures, sat on advisory boards and review panels, and on the editorial boards or as guest editor for scholarly journals. Dr. Taylor received her Ph.D. in Sociomedical Sciences from Columbia University.
